SENDGRID VERIFICATION

SendGrid Integration

Here we'll cover some features that are included in MightyVerify’s integration with Sendgrid. This will illustrate the 3 primary methods of email verification for our Sendgrid clients:

In addition to this walkthrough, you can also watch step-by-step video guides below.

To get started, a unique Sendgrid API key will be required to proceed. Please review the steps outlined here to access your unique Sendgrid generated API key that will be needed for any of the 3 methods outlined here.

Direct Data Onboarding

The first method of list verification for Sendgrid users is referred to as the Direct Data Onboarding method – which is primarily taking a CSV or text formatted file and importing it into MightyVerify so that the verified data can automatically be transferred to Sendgrid.  This method entails prepping your data file based on MightyVerify’s file format instructions and clicking on “Import List” button in the MightyVerify App.

Once the file is uploaded and prepped, click the “Begin Verification” button. A small window displays the estimated cost of the uploaded file based on the total number of emails, and an option for where the output file can be transferred.

If “Export to Sendgrid” is chosen as the export destination, you may then specify a distinct filename that will be utilized after the verification process completes. If a list by that name already exists in Sendgrid, you’ll get a prompt to revise the filename.

Another user input required at this stage is to determine if “risky” emails should be eliminated from the final list. “Risky” emails include “Unknown” and “Accept_all” category emails and are preferred to be removed as they can dilute a marketing campaign’s overall performance. Simply “enable” the radio button and click on “Let’s Get Started” button to begin the verification process.

Once the file has been verified, you’ll be able to note the total number of emails that were exported to Sendgrid on the verified file’s report card. By clicking the small arrow on the top of the report card, you may view a more detailed breakdown of the file and also have the option of downloading the “full” verified file results.

Other download options include just the “invalid” report or the “safe to mail” report. You would not need to download these reports as the verified or “safe” list has already been exported to Sendgrid automatically and you may view that list by selecting the “view list” option.

VERIFYING AN EXISTING SENDGRID LIST

The second method for data verification is to verify an existing Sendgrid contact list. We can begin by selecting the “Import from Sendgrid” option under the “Import list” button.

A small prompt displays, so you may choose the list you’d like to verify in the dropdown menu. Based on the number of emails found in the selected list, a price estimate is displayed.

In addition to removing the “Risky” emails, you also have a choice of removing emails that have had no activity – neither open nor click for a given period of time. Based on your selection, the verified list will now not only have clean data but also have inactive data removed.

Simply click the “Let’s Get Started” button to begin the verification process. Once the list has been verified, you’ll be able to view a detailed report of how many emails were “removed” from the original list. While this information has already been updated in your Sendgrid account, you do have the option to download your results if so desired.

MIGRATION OF DATA BETWEEN ESPS

The third method for data verification for our clients allows for the migration of data between the ESPs that we’ve integrated with - such as from Mailchimp to Sendgrid. The options here are similar to the previous methods outlined like displaying a price estimate, removing “Risky” emails, and specifying unique list name upon transfer.

So let’s import a list from Mailchimp as an example here and specify a list name for it upon migration to Sendgrid.

Next, we'll select the Mailchimp list we'd like to import and then choose Export to SendGrid.

Once the “Let’s get started” button is selected, the list is verified, “Risky” emails are removed and the verified emails are “imported” into Sendgrid as you can view here.
